Agency: Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (METRO)

Morgner’s Role: Noise and Vibration Control Plan and Monitoring, Geotechnical Instrumentation and Settlement Monitoring and Pre-Construction Survey Services

Project Description:

The project consists of a 3.2-mile extension of the existing Purple Line; two twin bored tunnels traveling west within the existing Wilshire Boulevard right-of-way; three underground stations, “boxes” approximately 800-1,000 feet long and 70 feet wide. Morgner is providing noise/vibration control plans to meet Metro requirements and to determine the extent of mitigation necessary for the contractor to comply with local ordinances and to operate within tolerances that would mitigate any risk of damage to near and sensitive facilities. We helped the contractor and Metro establish specifications for an extensive monitoring program that included a specially trained expert to ensure construction activities were compliant with Metro criteria by overseeing the contractor’s activities.
